Q Welcome to Adolescent Literature 2221 003 Dear Class, I hope you are all doing well in such a bleak time – mounds of leftover discolored snow, gray skies, friends in masks and nowhere safe to go. On a cheerier note – we have our growing partnerships with each other and meaningful well spent moments together. In this week’s letter, in no fewer than three paragraphs, I would like for you to discuss any of the following: ? The elements that made this such a good read ? The value of such a personal first person as utilized in the letters ? The value of tackling and engaging in difficult topics in young adult literature ? Anything that made you sit up and think, “wow”! Here is our procedure: ? The path of the letters: o Person 1 will launch and write to Person 2. o Person 2 must include a summary of what Person 1 said and add their own ideas and forward the letter to Person 3. o Person 3 must include ideas summarized from Person 2 and so on and forward letter back to Person 1. o You will have to correspond with your partners to schedule your letters. For instance, Person 1 agrees to forward letter to Person 2 on Sunday and Person 2 agrees to forward letter to Person 3 on Tuesday. ? Please upload your individual letters to BB for a grade. There will be a letter assignment (Letter #3) ? Don’t hesitate to ask me questions. Contact me at robinsm@oldwestbury.edu. Best, Prof Robins Please note there are some changes. Today, let us talk a bit more about how the book is unique among its contemporaries and unlike any other we might encounter from the teenage angst genre. Stephen Chbosky is the undeniable leader with this book that displays brilliance, unlike others. As a troubled teenager who attempts to overcome his past, Chbosky invites the seeker in us through Charlie's brilliant character image. It isn't Charlie's innocence or loyalty that makes him likable, but his perspective of the world as a wallflower builds a bond between the reader and the story.
